About
The Feminist Commune
Meet the Commune!
Kerstin Vaughn (she/her)
Kerstin came to theatre through acting. Since then, she has explored stage management, discovered the world of vocal coaching, fell in love with teaching, and cultivated an eye for directing. She is excited by work that uses humor to address the complicated and difficult parts of life.
Kerstin has recently graduated from Texas Tech University with her MFA in Performance and Pedagogy. She has taught classes, workshops, and camps for theatre students ranging all the way down to kindergarten and up to the undergraduate and professional level. She is a proud founding member of The Feminist Commune Theatre Collective.

Kerstin is inspired by using movement as a form of storytelling. The body knows so much, all we need is to listen to it. She believes theatre is most engaging and impactful when we tap into expressive movement and vocal energy to build something bigger than life and otherworldly.

Alice Bryant (they/them)
Alice adores every facet of theatre. They primarily focus on their love of performing and costuming, but have also dabbled in directing, teaching, stage management, props design, and electrics. They grew up dancing, singing, acting, and drawing dresses to their heart’s content- so it was truly no surprise this is their life now.
Alice loves to focus on fine-tuning their acting skills through the accumulation of various acting techniques from around the world and hopes to delve more into costume design as they grow older. They are currently pursuing their MFA in Performance and Pedagogy from Texas Tech University. They will do any theatre they can get their hands on and are super excited to be a part of the Feminist Commune!

Melanie Frasca (she/her)
Melanie found her love for performing very early on as she started dancing when she was two years old following in the footsteps of her older sister. Falling more in love as she found singing and acting, she chose to make her passion her profession. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Performance and Pedagogy at Texas Tech where she has diversified her work within the field of theatre. She has experience in intimacy choreography, vocal coaching, music directing, stage managing, and voice acting.
Rooted in her love of Shakespeare, she has become a creator and producer of a YouTube series entitled Painted Through Her Eyes which is a reimagining of Shakespeare’s leading ladies as paintings by famous artists in which they get to tell their side of the story. She has also used theatre to work within the Autistic and Nuerodiverse community through her work with Hunter Heartbeat Method and as the Artistic Director of BurkTech Players. When she is not in rehearsal, she can be found reading, singing around the house, or baking something sweet.

Sarah Mayhew (she/her)
Sarah Mayhew has been making theatre since she was eleven years old. An Alabama native, Mayhew earned her BA in Musical Theatre from Birmingham-Southern College in 2020, graduating as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. During the pandemic, she moved across the country to Lubbock, TX to pursue an MFA in Performance and Pedagogy from Texas Tech University. As part of her graduate assistantship, Mayhew teaches Introduction to Acting to non-major students; she also facilitates theatre workshops and camps for children and for adults with aphasia. Mayhew will direct The Five Lesbian Brothers' "The Secretaries" in Spring of 2023 in partial fulfillment of her MFA thesis.
On Sunday mornings, Mayhew can be found in the choir loft at First United Methodist Church, where she is employed as a choral singer. She is also a founding member of the Feminist Commune Theatre Collective, which will be producing "Why We Are Angry" as a way of raising awareness and funds for women's reproductive rights. As a jack of many trades, Mayhew values interdisciplinary approaches and partnerships, and is always on the hunt to learn something new.
